What would you do if given $500?

Amira:
If I had $500 I would buy myself some clothes and I would put some in the bank to save. I would also give $150 to my mother to help pay bills to get some off her back because I know that they’re killing her. I would be happy that I put my mind to something and helped out with bills at my house.

Bobby:
If I had five-hundred dollars I would buy a better microphone and a new beat pad. If I had any money left over, I could put it away for college.

Toya:
If I had $500, I would use $300 to pay for my school books and Give my mother $100 so she could pay a bill in the house. However, I am a huge fan of giving back, so therefore, I would give my church my last $100. Even though all of my money would be spent I would feel more relaxed knowing that I did something useful with my money, rather than spend it on junk.

Mikel:
If I had 500 dollars, I would spend $200 on clothes and then with another 200 I would help my mom out. I would put the last $100 in the back so I could use it

Tiera:
If I had $500, I would put $200 towards school so that when the school year comes back around I wouldn’t have to ask my mom for money. In less than 4 months I’m going to be 18 years old so I think it's time for me to become more independent, and more responsible for my own. And with the rest of the money I would give $150 a piece to my mom, and sister so that they can use it for what ever because they always help me out or buy me things when I can't afford it. That's what I would do if I had $500.

What do you want to do with your future?

Amira:
My future career choice is to be a nurse . The reason I would pick nursing is that helping people is something I want to do in life.

Bobby:
My main goal in life is to become a sound engineer artist.

Mikel:
When I grow up I want to be the manager of a bank. The reason I want to do that is because I like math a lot and when I was younger my uncle always used to tell me to save my money. Plus my aunt is the manager of a bank in New York and she told me to save my money and as soon as I get old enough to open up my own bank account, because when I get a job I can put my money in my own bank account instead of having a lot of money in my pocket. I know if I was walking with a lot of money on me, I would spend it.

Tiera:
I want to go off to college to become a ultrasound technician. The job seems very interesting since I have done some research on it. Also, the job pays good money. I feel as though it's a good start. I also enjoy the aspects that come with it. By that, I mean see a baby's first heartbeats. To me that's a very joyful moment. So that's why i want to be an Ultrasound Technician when I grow up. It’s not just a dream to me, it's a goal that I will accomplish!

Toya:
Becoming a radio personality is all that I ever dreamed about from a very young age. Some people say it's not a really good job while others say it's a very good job but just not for me. So I decided to take every one of their opinions into my own hands by making their opinions my motivation. One day I will be a radio personality and use my skills on the radio to connect with people from all over Philadelphia, New Jersey, or where ever my radio station gets signal, to let my audience know to never let anyone tell you that you can't do something.

Week 3

Amira:
Today was a good day at work. I did everything that I had to do and got to finish with no problem. I didn’t think it was going to take me this long but its done.

Bobby:
My studio is up and running, it’s called “the tunnel”. I have some of the best equipment, the best sound, and I just bought a high sensitivity mic. I’m just letting the world know about my studio.

Toya:
My motivation is my past. From being a young child in a single household I always wanted to be better that what I was exposed to. That is why I believe getting an education and getting a career that I love will help me show others around me that it is not where you come from, but where you are going. So, as a living testimony, in the future I will be a somebody that is looked up upon.

Tiera:
I just want to say that I’m very grateful for this internship here at Fun Times Magazine. It's a great opportunity that I never expected to have. I’m going to take advantage of this because it's a great start to becoming an independent person. It’s motivating seeing how everyone here gets up every morning with a positive mental attitude, even on the rainy days, especially Amanda. She's a great help and a good person at heart. The people here are very kind in every which way. To Miss. Kym, I just want to say Thank You! once again.

Week 4

Amira:
Love is blind. You can’t find it if you don’t look for it because it’s hard to find somebody that you can love and trust for the rest of your life.

Tiera:
I really enjoy the opportunities that come with this internship. Today we’re looking for ads so that we can make goodie bags for the fashion show that's coming up. I really love fashion. I love going out to go shopping, and dressing up and looking pretty. Hey, what can I say I’m a girlie girl. But I really do enjoy working here. Can't wait to blog for the Global Fusion Concert!!!

Toya:
Life is something we sometimes take for granted. We receive love from those who love us and treat them wrong. Every day we wake up saying how much we hate our lives, never stopping and taking the time out to tell Jesus “thank you” for waking us up this morning. So from today on I will live every day like it was my last.

Global Fusion

Amira:
My goal at global Fusion was to learn how to interview stars. At the same time it was super hot and there was so many people.

Toya:
On Saturday I was given the chance to attend Global Fusion along with some of my fellow interns. We had fun there and I must say there was a lot of work that needed to be done. The heat was tearing my skin up and taking my energy away. However, I made it through the day and was also given the chance to see some rappers from around the neighborhood. Therefore, if I could offer any advice to future interns about Global Fusion it would be to dress comfortable and relax.

Tiera:
I really look forward to going to the event this Saturday. It seems as though it's a great opportunity. I know I keep saying that, but I’m just really enjoying this job. I plan on taking advantage of it.

Web Research

Amira:

Do you think dropping out of high school is a smart choice? I don’t think it’s a smart idea, because you won’t make it in real life. Some people do things without thinking, and they usually follow the wrong people. They see people doing things, making a little money, then they want to do the same. If you drop out of school, there’s a chance that you can go back to school, and finish what you missed, but most people don’t go back because they get into the streets, in jail, or dead. Then they just believe that they can’t make it. Eventually their lives end up being all about drugs and other things. They think that they are going to get rich, and that’s not going never happen, they’re just dreaming. I say that because how are you going to be rich with no education. I mean, it’s possible but it’s very rare. But nobody can tell you what to do with your life it’s all up to you.

Rate of drop-outs: Over the last decade, between 347,000 and 544,000 10th through 12th grade students left school each year without successfully completing a high school program. State dropout rates represent the proportion of young people ages sixteen through twenty-four who are out of school, and have not earned a high school credential. In October 2000, 3.8million young adults were not enrolled in high school and had not completed high school.

Tiera:
I surfed the web and it seems to be a lot of violence among teens. I feel as though that teens should become more involved in school activities, so that they can stay out of trouble in the streets

Toya:
Man shot in the head, woman ran over in a shoot out: On July 29, 2010 in Christiana, Delaware around 1:00 am, a shooting occurred. During this shoot out a man was shot in his head and a woman was run over by car when the gun fire happened . Police say the shooting started from an argument in a home nearby. Reading this article I was pulled into this article. For example, both victims were innocent and are now suffering all because people want to act dumb. My opinion is that we as the human race need to just relax and put the guns down.

Week 7

Toya:
Had a blast this weekend with my family and friends. However it is almost time for me to say my good byes to those I love around me. Yes, I am off to college on August 20th and I am more than scared. My fear of being away is failing. When I think of others I know that went off to college and failed, and how people talked about them, it makes me scared. That is why I am afraid to be away from my family, but they are the reason I am in school in the first place. So I guess I have to turn my fear into confidence.

Tiera:
Today is a new day, it’s a new me. I'm leaving all the bad things and people alone. That's the way I feel and nobody can change the new me.

Amira:

Everyday I turn around I see somebody my age pregnant. It's crazy because you would think that they still want to enjoy teenage life. But, that’s the kids today.

We are entering the season of fall 2008 in this month of September 2008. Fall is a time when the summer ends and there
are changes on many levels. These changes include the weather; we go from the warm summer to the more mild cooler weather of the fall. Many of us do not like to see the summer end because we can no longer have summer vacations, family reunions, barbecues and all the summer activities that the summer brings. However, with the coming of the fall we are afforded the opportunity to have a new beginning.
Fall brings with it new activities but also more familiar old ones. For children fall, marks going back to school. For college age students it brings starting new with leaving the familiarity of high school friends, location and teachers to meeting new friends, locations and places. For parents the fall season can bring new challenges of finding daycare for after school, buying clothes for children to go to school in, parent teacher conferences, orientations and all the other changes that go along with the start of a new school year. For the parents of college age children it may signal the empty nest syndrome as they watch their young children become young adults as they leave home. It can be a change and transition for the whole family, whether young or old.
As I reflected on this time of year and the season of new beginnings, I thought about the opportunities that change brings amidst all of the challenges of life that go on. In life, we would rather be comfortable with things remaining the same. It is difficult to change but the Creator with the approach of the new season reminds us that life does not stay still but that as the environment changes from one season to another, we also change from one day to another. We all aim to reach our potential and be all that we can be in life. When we face new beginnings whether a new business venture, a move, starting a new job, having a baby, getting married, aging, buying a house, leaving an old job, beginning college or graduating from college, we tend to want to cling to the more familiar and resist change.
I would like you to think about the rewards and benefits of what change can bring about in your life. We do not forget the past but we take from the past what is of value and move forward with the hopes and expectations of the new opportunities changes in life will bring.
In life, we have to keeping moving forward. We are not the same person that we were yesterday and we have to embrace the new person that we are becoming. So many times in life, people feel stagnant and frustrated because of not reaching the goals, which they aimed for or set to achieve. Or they are not patient with the time it may take to reach goals and aspirations that they set for themselves. If we think about the athletes who have just finished competing in the Summer Olympics in China, and those who have won gold, silver or bronze medals, discipline and change was needed to reach their aspirations. All of us are on a spiral to make changes in our lives and in our communities. We want to be a better person than we were yesterday and become the best person that we can be today.
We can remember the past and those things that have happened in previous years like the 911 bombing in NYC on September 11, 2001 and the tragedy of it all. We move forward and look at the strength of the human spirit despite great tragedy, people were able to go on with life and continue to strive despite the losses they encountered. It is this spiritual dimension of the human spirit and change that I would like to challenge you to think about as you face changes at this time and season of your life in fall of 2008. The choice is yours as the summer season ends and the fall begins, will you hold onto the past or move forward? Take time to think about the new changes that you would like to make and how you can prepare yourself for them. The new season brings with it new opportunities and growth than can help you to become the person that the Creator intended you to be in this season of your life. Let’s Celebrate the New beginning that the Creator will bring into your life during this season of change.

To everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted.
A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a Time to refrain from embracing:
A time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to throw away
A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3 v. 1-8

We all aim to reach our potential and be all that we can be in life. When we face new beginnings whether a new business venture, a move, starting a new job, having a baby, getting married, aging, buying a house, leaving an old job, beginning college or graduating from college, we tend to want to cling to the more familiar and resist change.

Bishop Joseph Cistone in a homily at St. Barnabas Church the other day, told the story of a woman who went to buy medicine for her sick child. She unfortunately, locked her car keys in the car. The woman called the baby sitter to explain her situation and the baby sitter encouraged her to be calm and look around for a hanger to pry open the car door. She indeed found a hanger nearby but was unable to open the door. She prayed fervently to God to help her. And she looked up to see a rusty old car driving up to her and a rustier looking guy behind the wheel. “You need help?” The person asked. She explained her problem. The person proceeded to open the door in no time. She profusely thanked him and proclaimed him an angel. The guy said he was no angel because he was just released from prison the previous week for breaking into cars. The woman fell on her knees and thanked God for sending a professional. Ha ha
It is that time of the year. Thanksgiving, Christmas (which are past), and New Year. A lot of asking, giving and getting. If you got what you asked for, will you know? Will you be satisfied? A child wishes Santa (spelled parents or benefactor) to give him a bicycle. He receives it. The first part of our question is answered. He knows. The second part is will he be satisfied. The boy takes a ride with the bike, he’s knocked down by a vehicle and became paralyzed from his waist down! Ten years later, he still wonders why he asked for a bike, why he got his wish and how it has turned into his nightmare. A big regret!!
The year 2008 has ended, it is time to add and subtract. What will you ask for, what plans and resolutions do you have for the New Year? To me, asking, even of myself is a big thing. Will it stand the test of time? That is why we should always pray and ask for inspiration and wisdom.

My friends, as we thank God for guarding and guiding us through 2008, we invite Chief Priest Bacchus to offer libation on our behalf.
“I the one and only Creole boy, the youngest living old man, the prophet and Chief Priest, in the words of Adenuga and by the powers conferred on me;

Whereas fish abandon water, and birds stray from their nests,
May our guiding spirits never forsake us. Amen.

The pigeon brings good things to its house with its two wings,
May nothing prevent us from becoming successful in 2009. Amen

Children of the land, elders of the land, men, women, young, old and all lovers of Funtimes Magazine, May we not travel when the road is thirsty for blood. Amen

No one prevents the monkey from sitting on the branch of a tree,
Nobody kills a dog because it barks,
Nobody kills the he goat because it sexes its mother,
May nobody’s rib crack from laughter because of reading Funtimes Magazine. Amen

We affirm the Year 2009 as a year of fulfillment! Yes, we can!! May we achieve these in Jesus’ Name. Amen”

Open your eyes, we thank you Chief Bacchus for the Prayers. May you live forever.

Our cover is President Barack Obama. Besides a great campaign strategy, one writer in a Philadelphia daily mentioned what Obama needed to do to win: remaining scandal free and in the good books of Oprah Winfrey. He did both and won. Like a good salesperson, Oprah sold Obama to the nation. Obama has become another icon on the crowded marquee of “products” which Oprah has successfully marketed. She effectively morphed the fairy tale of his presidential run into a reality.

But unlike recommending a book to her book club or selling a mascara, Obama is the president of the United States. And unlike merchandise sitting on countertops, Obama will be making decisions which may run counter to Oprah’s interests. Does she lose sleep on the prospect of this potential sacrifice or her creation of a possible monster? For example, the much-touted Obama’s economic policy if implemented may be rummaging in Oprah’s pockets and robbing her of millions.
Even then, this enigma called Oprah Winfrey has eschewed chest thumping as a kingmaker but retreated into the shadows of seeming disinterested look. What do you think is Oprah’s mantra.. I guess “Yes, I am”, she would say.
Congratulations to President Obama and kudos to King Maker Oprah Winfrey.

My dear ones, this edition is special. Savor it. Tell us how to please you, bond with you and make you enjoy Funtimes Magazine. Send in your letters, opinion, questions for Aunty Mamie and true-life confessions. Support us by advertising your business in our magazine. Give us the opportunity to create mementoes from your celebrations, graduations, birthdays, weddings, christening, anniversaries etc.
Briefly, our couple of the month is Mr and Mrs Philip Tuayemie. Until five months ago when he had a stroke, Philip was the sole breadwinner of his home. Philip thus lost some mobility, his job, his apartment and his car. Thankfully, he has held tightly to his God and his wife. Judith, his wife has stood by him in steadfast love. Congratulations. Did you hear that no person is “an innocent victim of a drive-through feeding?” You must read the health awareness column.

Talking about bonding, our editorial beauty is Tina Bond of Imported Bride fame. She urges you to join Funtimes Family. If we displease you, tell us and if we please you, tell others and us. Funtimes Magazine is your best bet for relaxation. Enjoy!

Funtimes: How expensive is good health?
Dr. Umeh : Well, it’s always good to be healthy and people don’t have to wait until they get older, or have problems before they wake up, and learn how to take care of their health. Once you are aware and take good care of your health and well being, there is nothing expensive in maintaining good health.
I cannot overemphasize the impact of exercise, eating well and getting enough sleep, upon someone’s health. Start early enough in life to watch what you eat, and exercise as regularly as possible. As time goes by, some of us who are burdened by some genetic makeup we inherited from our parents, will stand a better chance to fight it. Not everybody will become a diabetic or hypertensive, but the environment does interact with the genetic makeup to create the disease process.
The fact that diabetes runs in family does not mean that everybody in the family is going to get it and become diabetic. If you are reckless and careless about your diet and lack of activity, the chances are that a disease process of that nature down the road will burden you. So what I am saying is that you don’t take things for granted, saying because I don’t have diabetes in my family or high blood pressure, I can do as I please. Every one has to be aware of that. When I talk about environment, I talk not only about where you live, but also what you eat, what you drink, how you carry yourself and expose yourself to nature in order to avoid any adverse interaction with your genetic makeup which will lead to disease process.
FT: What common diseases especially afflict blacks and those of African descent?
Dr. Umeh: In the African / African American community, hypertension is very rampant. We are beginning to see a big trend in diabetes, This trend has a lot to do with diet and lack of activity. Most people who are afflicted with the disease process have a family history associated with the conditon, but some just acquired the disease process because of a careless approach to their health care and general well-being. Obesity, by itself is a disease. It is in the community and adds adversely to the disease processes that I have mentioned.
FT: What do we do to be healthy?
Dr. Umeh: Well, it is very simple, in your diet, you can never go wrong with eating vegetables, and you can never go wrong with eating fruits. People drink all those soft drinks like soda and punch, which are laden with a lot of sugar. Even the so-called diet drinks are not very good to drink. You can never go wrong with water.
This brings me back to talking about eating well. You do better baking or boiling your foods, instead of frying, especially chicken, fish, or turkey. As much as possible avoid the red meats, you can have them occasionally but you should make food choices that are much better for your health. That is a good way to start.

Dear Aunty Mamie
I have been very dishonest with my boyfriend lately. We have been together for almost two years now and I love him very much. However, every time the word “children” comes up in a conversation, he’ll get very upset. I am not sure whether he wants kids because we never talk about it. “Kids, “children” or “pregnant” are words he hates to hear, so to avoid fights, we never talk about it. About a week ago, I found out I was pregnant. It has been almost two weeks now and I still have not told him. I’m so frightened and confused because I don’t know how he will take it.
From Lusu

Lusu,
I understand your situation. I understand that you are confused, but what goes in must come out. You cannot disguise your belly for too long. As you said, he did not exactly say that he did not want children. You will never know until you find out. Tell him that he has a baby on the way; he has the right to know. You never know Lusu, but to most men, having a baby is a proud moment in their lives. I wish you all the luck.

Dear Aunty Mamie,
I saw my father kissing another woman a few days ago. I didn’t say anything because I was still confused about the situation. My father loves my mother and they have been married for almost twenty years. The following week, I saw the same woman driving his car. At this point, I needed to know so I asked him about it. He said the woman was a friend of my mother, and that he was planning a surprise for my mother’s birthday. My father later introduced Musu, my mother’s so-called friend to me. That night when I got home, I told my mom about Musu who was nice to me. I was stunned when my mother told me that she didn’t know anybody called Musu. In fact, she said she never heard that name. Then it became clear that my father was having an affair with this woman. I love my parents and I don’t want them to divorce. However, I think it is unfair to my mother. Should I tell her that her husband is cheating on her?
From Hope
Dear Hope,
Don’t tell your mother just yet. Give your father a chance to explain himself. I would suggest that you tell your father that you know about his affairs. Then tell him that you want him to stop, if he loves and cares about his family, he will stop. Finally, tell him to confess to your mother and apologize to her. Your mother can decide to either forgive him or not forgive him. Don’t beat yourself up over the situation. It is not your fault.

Let me begin by saying that I am not in a relationship. I have been single for a long time. Being single has objectively allowed me some time to evaluate the relationships I had in the past and I was not happy with my grade. I concluded that during the life of those relationships I settled for men who were not up to the standards I set for myself. I am not talking about compromising in order for a relationship to work. Like two people who agree to give a little to get a little, for example my agreeing to make the bed while my boyfriend makes the morning coffee! I am referring to overlooking the obvious character flaws in a person just for the sake of having a relationship.

I do not know too many people who do not want to be in a relationship. If however, you are with someone only to fill a void in your life, then you have problems on your hands.

Some of my family and friends are either dating or married. However, I do not envy or even wish to have a relationship similar to theirs. These are no Will Smith and Jada Pinkett love affairs. We are talking about men with no goals or careers, who are unemployed, freeloading, still living at home with momma, not paying child support, driving their (women’s) cars but not filling the tank with gas, playing PlayStation all day , and depending on the women to take care of them.

Yes, I have also had my fair share of men like those. It is hard to admit that I had subjected myself to the same pain and misery that I watch my family and friends go through on a daily basis.

There are plenty of reasons why we sometimes close our eyes to this obvious foolishness...

<DIR>
<DIR>

· The sex is good and I can afford a toy like him. That’s cool.

· When he is working, he does give me some money for the bills. But since he has police records, it is hard to get a job and when he does get one, it is even harder to keep it because of profiling, sexual harassment from female bosses, excuses, and excuses. Choose any.

· I am only with him until I meet somebody better. Go girl!

· Why should I be alone? You’re right

· I don’t feel like I am settling for less. For real

· I love him. Wow
</DIR></DIR>

When my girlfriends and I talk, we all agree that men should be loving, self sufficient, hardworking, and dependable men. However, when it is time to go our separate ways we leave to go home to the same nonsense.

What’s the point of proclaiming today will be different if you continue to wake up next to the same trifling man. What’s the point of voicing how unhappy and stressed you are if you are going to zip your lips in front of the person that is the center of your unhappiness and stress. We know our worth, we know how we should be treated, and we know what a good man should bring to the table, but we allow our eagerness to have a relationship to overcome us and take the first man stepping off the bus.

Men deserve our respect, understanding and compassion. We know men, especially African American men, have it harder than most. Please don’t let me forget how hard you are trying to get yourself together.

However, there are men that cry broke when it’s time to pay a bill but are the first to put in for drinks when it’s time to go to the liquor store. The men that can’t afford to pay child support but just purchased the latest pair of Jordan’s for $300. The same men that can’t remember our birthdays but can memorize every inaudible word of the latest rap song.

Guess what, I don’t understand and my compassion has run out.

I am a beautiful, God fearing, 31 year old woman who was raised in the heart of Chicago’s ghetto by a single mother. I have seen it all... I have witnessed abuse, been lied too, felt neglected, and unloved but through it all I have managed to earn a college degree. I am raising my 3 year old son and 16 year old niece alone. I own my car, home, and I aspire to be the best person possible.

Now, can you tell me why should I just settle for any man?

<DIR>

</DIR></DIR>

"Africans use the sisters." Jackie pronounced.

"Monique, my friend", she continued, "married an African and they had a society wedding". It was well attended and a roll call of who’s, who. After the reception day, the bride and groom drove home in a carload of gifts. The groom dropped off the bride and told her he was going to bring the remainder of the gifts and never came back. It is four and a half years now and no person has explained his whereabouts…."

Telling the story, Jackie, who has worked up her emotions, was presently prancing up and down.
"What do you think happened?" I asked in a calm voice.
"The dude used her." She retorted. "He needed his immigration papers and marrying her was key to the American dream."
I chuckled but she did not find it funny.
"Bonaventure or whatever they called him used Monique," Jackie declared.

"Their barely five months of romance and wedding cost my friend almost $75,000 and some change draining her life savings…I will be damned if any other African will befriend any person ever that I know," she concluded.

"Let’s get this right," I said quietly to Jackie, "I am not in any relationship and I do not seek any. That said, I think you are unfair to believe Bonaventure ran off on your friend. What does he benefit? From your story, Bona for short, arrived to the US from Nigeria, West Africa, as a visitor in December 2003. He encountered you and Monique at 1st Baptist Church in Overbrook, Philadelphia and immediately took to Monique. Their affection was mutual and they started dating. Barely four months later, were they married."

Monique, 41, has "been there and done that." She is an active member of her church and moonlights as a gospel singer. She works with the City of Philadelphia in the Water Department. Monique was into the housing rehabilitation business for a quick turnaround. She has African tenants in some of her apartments and developed affection for them.

On the other hand, Bonaventure was on a visitor visa. Though he has a BSC degree, he did not have a job and when his visa expired three months from date of entry in the US, he technically became an illegal alien. Monique, it is clear, bankrolled the wedding, relationship, and their social class for that matter. The wedding was critical to his acquiring his papers and gave some legitimacy to his freeloading on Monique. Therefore, it is not surprising that the reactions and emotions to what happened that evening are biased and tainted. To the uninformed, Bonaventure was a scoundrel but is that the whole truth.

The process of changing status from illegal alien to legal resident may begin with getting married to an American but it does not end there. According to Attorney Nduka, after a wedding, the wife (American citizen) files the alien relative petition 1-130 for her husband, which includes permanent resident application and a work permit application. The fingerprinting and interview will take anywhere from 6 months to 8 months at least. If at any time the wife develops cold feet, the process halts. The husband must remain an obedient servant, or the process comes crashing to the ground should she decide to bail out.

Thus, Bonaventure could not have disappeared with the intention of cashing in on his new marital status to a citizen. The process is much more. So what happened? Is Bonaventure alive or dead?

If alive,

Did he use Monique and take her for a ride? On the other hand, did Monique sell US permanent residence for few boots of bedroom pleasure, photo ops, and a laundry list of expenses?

What do we not know about Bonaventure and what would have forced him to abandon a predictably, smooth transition to responsible citizenry in US for the unknown.

If dead,

Was he an innocent victim of unintended death/murder?

Did Bonaventure skid off the road and plunge to death without being found?

Did Monique’s previous associations have anything to do with the young man’s disappearance?
